Humor in business documents is like a quark: very hard to produce.
Why is it so hard to write something that makes people laugh? Mainly because writing eliminates so many elements of communications — tone of voice, body language, timing, inflection, etc. — that make people laugh. It’s very hard to write funny. Thanks Travis for your comments and videos! They are so useful – but it is like going to the gym, one needs to be disciplined to do it regularly. This time I started navigating around in your archives, difficult to stop! I have a tough presentation later today, and it is good to remember the strength of “negative selling”, that is the power of information rather than hard selling.
